Hello Ralph

I’m getting in touch about the UK government’s roadmap out of lockdown and what it means for Ramblers activities – I’m sure you’ll be keen to know how the recent announcements affect your volunteering.

The dates below are an indication of when we’ll be able to restart activities. Please bear in mind the roadmap is under constant government review so the dates are provisional only. Always check the Ramblers website for the most up-to-date advice on the status of Ramblers activities.

From Monday 29 March:
While two households or groups of up to six people will be able to get together for informal walks, Ramblers activities will remain suspended in England. Everyone is encouraged to minimise travel.

From Monday 12 April:
If the roadmap stays on track, volunteers will be able to resume in-person Ramblers activities across England.

We’re expecting more detailed government guidance to be available at the end of March and will review this with other walking organisations. After the past year, we know restarting activities can be complicated, and that clear guidance is really important. As such, we’re planning for 12 April in line with Step 2 of the UK government roadmap so when we do restart, we can give groups and areas the clarity and support they need to restart walks safely.

We’ll be in touch soon with more information, including details about a webinar for volunteers on 31 March.

I hope this comes as welcome news and are looking forward to getting back out there when the times comes – I know I am!

With best wishes,

Becky Birrane
Operations manager

If all goes well the first walk will be Gordon's Warley Place walk on April 15th.
